Terence Rowlands - Curious Curious EP

Terence only began song writing in late 2002 but gathered enough material to start performing at open mike nights around the country the following year.

He recorded three demo’s, toying with some ideas for an eventual album while supporting other acts around Ireland and performed regularly in Limerick, building up a local following.

Last year was spent recording his debut E.P and the ground work for the forthcoming album.

The debut E.P “Curious, curious” was released this march on his own independent label T.R.M.

Tom Waits - Closing Time

It starts with a sunrise, it ends with "one star shining," and in between Closing Time contains an honest year's worth (1973, to be exact) of sweet, melodic, vintage Tom Waits--minus some of the vocal growl and thematic grit of his later stuff (but you can see it coming). Waltzes, lullabies, blues, jazz, you name it. Driving songs and drinking songs, even an honest to gosh country tune: "Rosie." There are torchers ("Lonely"), scorchers ("Ice Cream Man"), and back-porch senior citizen love songs ("Martha"): "Those were the days of roses/Poetry and prose, and/Martha, all I had was you and all you had was me." Other standouts are "I Hope That I Don't Fall in Love with You" (guess what--he does!) and "Grapefruit Moon," in which Waits croons: "Every time I hear that melody, something breaks inside." Hang on to your hearts and hats, folks.

Bonnie Prince Billy - I See A Darkness

Brooding and strikingly intimate, I See a Darkness picks through the abandoned camps of Bob Dylan and Neil Young, finding lonely tales and ragged melodies strewn about. The magic comes in the light Oldham is able to shine on these songs, rendering them both gorgeously baroque yet starkly modern.

4. Another Day Full Of Dread
5. Death To Everyone

Gotan Project - Revancha Del Tango

Released in Europe in 2001, La Revancha Del Tango’s sexy combination of chillout programming and authentic tango music became a lounge favorite and led to massive sales. Lightning struck twice when it was released two years later in the States--the domestic debut attracted the attention of electronic music hipsters, tango freaks, and world music geeks. And rightfully so. The Gotan trio of Philippe Cohen Solal, Christoph H. Müller, and Eduardo Makaroff write the album's strongest material themselves, but their imaginative incorporation of Frank Zappa's "Chunga's Revenge," Gato Barbieri's theme from the movie Last Tango In Paris and, not surprisingly, Astor Piazzolla's "Vuelvo Al Sur" into the Gotan world shows just how broad and inclusive their tastes really are.

1. Queremos Paz

Jim O Rourke - Eureka

Take one genius experimental guitar player well versed in the making of arty found-sound music and angular postrock. Cut him loose from his band, introduce him to fingerpicked guitar stylings and lush, orchestral pop production, and then leave him alone to create his masterpiece. The result? Jim O'Rourke's Eureka, an unabashedly beautiful work.

The Be Good Tanyas - Blue Horse

Blue Horse is deeply rooted but is not an exercise in old-time purism; originals outnumber traditional songs, and the core accompaniment of guitar and banjo is often supplemented by bass and drums, creating a Rickie Lee Jones-esque lilt in "The Littlest Birds" and a reggae-tinged groove on the haunting old ballad "Rain and Snow." The band name may be a bit tough to get your lips around, but the music of this talented trio is a refreshing drink from a clear mountain stream.

Devendra Banhart - Live @ France Inter's WHITE SESSION

What does he sound like? Devendra Banhart has long, striking black hair, an impish smile and a voice that recalls Marc Bolan during his time in Tyrannosaurus Rex, 1968. Even his album titles recall Bolan's My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair but Now They're Content To Wear Stars in Their Brows in its Tolkein style. Banhart uses his voice to great effect. His breathy voice is quivery during dreamy moments and alternates between a purr and a growl much like Bolan's elfish mannerisms. Also current Banhart material are strikingly like early T Rex, acoustic with simple percussion.

Track 01 Wake Up Little Sparrow
Track 02 At The Hop
Track 03 Little Petit Spider
Track 04 We All Know
Track 05 Will Is My Friend

City Of God - Various Artists

City of God [SOUNDTRACK]

In telling the story of two friends from a tough Rio de Janeiro barrio whose lives can never seem to escape the favela where they were born and raised, the acclaimed film by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund has drawn comparisons to such modern touchstones as Martin Scorsese's GoodFellas. Taking his inspiration from the filmmakers' daring gambit to cast real people in the roles and the film's '60s-'70s milieu, composer Antonio Pinto (assisted by partner Ed Córtes) has concocted a smart, rhythmically intoxicating cocktail of Brazilian jazz and samba, shaken with a little '70s American funk and R&B and served with cool, tropical flair. Those various styles often melt into each other with a liberating sense of postmodern possibility, giving listeners an experience that's as exotic as it is deceptively familiar, the worthy equatorial flip side of David Holmes's jazz-funk collaborations with Steven Soderbergh on Out of Sight and Ocean's Eleven

1. Meu nome e Ze
2. Vida de otario
3. Funk da Virada
4. Estoria de Boca
